About Cresconova Labs

 The Framework

At Cresconova Labs, everything we do is guided by a five-stage framework designed to develop Critical Creative Thinking skills. Unlike a checklist, the framework spirals as students return to each stage across different projects, each time with greater depth, greater confidence, and a more sophisticated understanding of themselves as thinkers and makers.

  • Inquiry: Learning to ask the right question. Every great project begins not with an answer, but with a question. At Cresconova Labs, students learn the difference between open questions for research, opening up possibilities and closed questions towards bringing focus and precision.
  • Systems Thinking: Learning to see the bigger picture. Once a question is identified, students are guided to look beyond the surface. Systems Thinking teaches them to examine a problem through a supportive community lens. A solution that ignores the system around it rarely works. A solution built with systems thinking in mind can genuinely last.
  • Design Thinking: Learning to create with purpose. With a clear question and a systems understanding, students move into making. This is about creating a solution to the problem they have identified. Through brainstorming, designing, prototyping, testing, and iterating, students experience failure as information rather than defeat. 
  • Human + AI Interaction: Learning to work alongside AI with intention. We don't treat AI as a novelty or a shortcut, we teach children how and when to bring it into their work deliberately and thoughtfully. This staged process develops AI literacy as students learn to use AI as a thinking partner: enhance ideas, interrogate assumptions, understand bias and extend what they can create. All while understanding that the thinking, the judgement, and the purpose behind the work always remains their own.
  • Excellence: Learning when to stop iteratingThe final step is about recognising when a project is ready to be completed and having the discipline to drive it to its highest potential rather than endlessly prototyping or pivoting when new questions arise. When a student identifies a new question during an iteration, we note it for future exploration and drive the current solution towards excellence. 

Spiraling within the framework: Each project does not require every step of the framework. Students will encounter the framework across multiple courses, building on what came before. By Spiralling the framework, each course creates a touchstone path for students broadening their growth mindset through Critical Creative Thinking Skills.

In Practice: Every course is designed with the framework in mind. Whether a child is using a laser cutter, a 3D printer, a microscope, or VR googles, the Framework is the invisible architecture behind every session.

 

 What students can expect in a session?

  • One to two-hour long sessions: Long enough to go deep, short enough to stay focused.
  • All materials and equipment are provided to drive innovation.
  • Maximum 12 students per session: Expert mentors work alongside students allowing projects to reach the highest potential.
  • Students leave with something real: Every session ends with progress on a real project.
  • No extra kit or preparation needed: Students arrive and get straight to work.

Parents are welcome to enjoy sitting in our lounge and work in our co-working space while sessions run.
